The Bacchae

Director’s Statement

The Bacchae is a classic Greek story retold through the eyes of a modern, predominantly female, production team. We wanted to blend classic Greek conventions with current staples of the theatre scene. What emerged was a story of overcoming oppressive systems and questioning what is good and right in both the classic world of divinity and the modern day. Eventually, The Bacchae became my love letter to sisterhood and female empowerment. All this to say- the Barbie movie changed my life. Thank you Greta Gerwig, and I hope you all enjoy the show!
